This 16-day safari takes you on an unforgettable journey through Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations and Uganda’s primate-rich tropical forests. Begin in the Masai Mara, where the big cats and the Great Migration define Africa’s raw wilderness. Continue to Amboseli, known for its elephants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, and Lake Nakuru, famous for its flamingos and rhinos. Cross into Uganda for a mix of savannah and forest adventures: Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and the world-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for gorilla trekking. End with relaxation at the stunning Lake Bunyonyi.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed by our company representative and transferred to your reserved hotel in the city. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt for a short orientation tour of Nairobi, visiting landmarks such as the Nairobi National Museum or the Giraffe Centre, or simply relax at your hotel after the long journey. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and briefing about the safari ahead. Overnight stay in Nairobi.

Day 2

Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve and Afternoon Game Drive

After an early breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi, you will meet your driver-guide and begin your scenic journey towards the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes you through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley, with stops at viewpoints for photography and to stretch. You will arrive at your lodge in the Mara in time for lunch and a short rest.

In the afternoon, you will set out on your first game drive in the Masai Mara, a reserve famous for its rolling savannahs, big cats, and large concentrations of wildlife. Depending on the season, you may also witness the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras cross from Serengeti into the Mara. Return to your camp in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Today is dedicated to exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations. After an early breakfast, you will set out with your packed lunch for a full-day game drive. The Mara is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and countless antelopes.                                                                                                                    If traveling during the migration season (July-October), you may witness the dramatic river crossings where wildebeest and zebras risk it all to cross the crocodile-infested Mara River, one of nature’s greatest spectacles.                                                                                                                                                Enjoy your picnic lunch in the heart of the reserve while surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and roaming wildlife. In the evening, return to your camp for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Optional activity: Visit a Masai village to learn about the traditions, culture, and lifestyle of the Masai people.

Day 4

Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park and Game Drive

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Mara and begin your journey towards Lake Nakuru National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its birdlife and rhino sanctuary. The scenic drive passes through the Great Rift Valley, with opportunities to stop for photography and enjoy panoramic views. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, head into the park for a game drive. Lake Nakuru is home to both black and white rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and a variety of predators, including leopards and lions. The lake itself is a birdwatcher’s paradise, known for flamingos, pelicans, and over 450 other bird species.                  As the sun sets, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness.

Day 5

Transfer to Amboseli National Park and Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast at Lake Nakuru, you will depart for Amboseli National Park, located at the foot of the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro. The journey takes you through scenic landscapes and small towns, offering glimpses of rural Kenyan life along the way.                                                                  Upon arrival at your lodge in Amboseli, enjoy lunch before setting out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds, and the park also hosts lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species. The striking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro provides a dramatic setting for wildlife photography and unforgettable views.                                  Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay, soaking in the sounds and sights of the African wilderness.

Day 6

Full-Day Game Drives in Amboseli National Park

Today is dedicated to fully exploring the remarkable landscapes of Amboseli National Park. After an early breakfast, set out for a morning game drive, where the park’s famous elephant herds roam freely against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Keep your camera ready for sightings of lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and an array of plains game.                                          Return to the lodge for a hearty lunch, then head out for an afternoon game drive, maximizing your chances to encounter wildlife during the cooler hours when animals are most active. Amboseli is also home to over 400 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.                    As the sun sets over the vast savannah, return to your camp for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay, enjoying the peaceful ambiance of the African wilderness.

Day 7

Return to Nairobi & Flight to Entebbe, Uganda

After an early breakfast at the camp, you will begin the drive back to Nairobi, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be assisted with check-in for your flight to Entebbe, Uganda.

After landing in Entebbe, our guide will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to relax and unwind after the journey or enjoy a brief orientation of Entebbe. This marks the beginning of your Ugandan wildlife and primate adventure.

Day 8

Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After an early breakfast at your lodge in Entebbe, you will depart for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest protected area. En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a conservation area where you can track white rhinos on foot with the guidance of expert rangers, a thrilling introduction to Uganda’s wildlife conservation efforts.

Continue the journey to Murchison Falls, enjoying scenic views of the Nile River, savannah landscapes, and rolling hills along the way. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and, time permitting, visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge creating a spectacular curtain of water. Enjoy breathtaking views and photo opportunities.

Day 9

Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Begin your day early with a morning game drive through the northern banks of Murchison Falls National Park. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and numerous bird species. This early drive offers excellent opportunities to observe predators hunting and other wildlife behaviors in their natural habitat.

Return to the lodge for lunch, and after embark on an afternoon boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. The cruise provides close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds, as well as the roaring falls themselves where the Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge, creating a spectacular cascade.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on the grandeur of the falls and the abundant wildlife.

Day 10

Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast at your lodge in Murchison Falls, depart for Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s renowned primate hotspot. The drive takes you through scenic landscapes, including rolling hills, farmlands, and small rural communities, offering a glimpse of everyday Ugandan life.

Upon arrival at your lodge near Kibale, check in and relax after the long journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may take a short nature walk around the lodge to stretch your legs and enjoy the surrounding forest sounds. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge, preparing you for the primate trekking adventure ahead.

Day 11

Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Swamp Walk

After an early breakfast at your lodge, embark on a chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kibale Forest National Park, home to over 1,500 chimpanzees. Accompanied by experienced park guides, you will trek through lush tropical forest, listening to the sounds of the jungle and observing chimpanzees in their natural habitat. This is one of Uganda’s most rewarding wildlife experiences.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you will enjoy a guided walk through the swamp, spotting a variety of birds, primates, and other wildlife. Along the way, interact with local communities and learn about their conservation efforts and traditional practices.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay, reflecting on a day immersed in Uganda’s rich biodiversity.

Day 12

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Evening Game Drive

After breakfast at your lodge near Kibale, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most diverse wildlife reserve. The drive offers scenic views of the Kazinga Escarpment, crater lakes, and rolling savannahs, with opportunities to stop for photos and enjoy the landscape.

Upon arrival at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth, check in and relax before heading out for a short evening game drive. Explore the park’s open plains and forests, spotting wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, and antelopes as they prepare for the night. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 13

Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Start the day early with a morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, known for its high concentration of lions, elephants, buffaloes, and various antelope species. The cool morning hours are ideal for wildlife viewing and photography as animals are most active.

After returning to the lodge for lunch, embark on an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, one of Uganda’s premier wildlife viewing spots. The channel teems with hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds, and offers excellent opportunities to observe elephants and buffaloes coming to drink at the water’s edge. The sunset along the channel provides spectacular scenery and perfect photo opportunities.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 14

Transfer via Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast at the lodge, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the world-famous mountain gorillas. En route, drive through the Ishasha sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions, one of the park’s most unique wildlife attractions. Keep your camera ready for wildlife sightings along the way.                                                                                                                      Continue the scenic journey through rolling hills, tea and banana plantations, and local villages, arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon. Check in, relax, and prepare for the gorilla trekking adventure scheduled for the next day.

Day 15

Gorilla Trekking, Batwa Cultural Trail and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast at your lodge, embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Accompanied by expert guides, you will trek through dense tropical forest to encounter a gorilla family, spending up to an hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. This intimate wildlife encounter is both thrilling and humbling.

After trekking, return to your lodge for a brief rest and lunch then head out for the Batwa cultural experience before transferring to Lake Bunyonyi, often called the “Switzerland of Africa” for its scenic hills and tranquil waters. Upon arrival, check in at your lakeside lodge and enjoy the serene environment, with optional activities such as canoeing, birdwatching, or short hikes.

Day 16

Relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi and Departure

After breakfast at your lakeside lodge, enjoy a leisurely day at Lake Bunyonyi, soaking in the serene surroundings and stunning views of the terraced hills. Optional activities include canoeing, boat rides to the lake’s islands, nature walks, or cultural visits to local communities around the lake.

Later, check out from your lodge and transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, concluding your 16-day Kenya and Uganda safari adventure.
