Day 1
Set Off for Ssese Island
Your journey begins with a transfer to the ferry terminal in Entebbe for a scenic boat ride across Lake Victoria to Ssese Island. As you sail, keep an eye out for pelicans, kingfishers, and cormorants flying over the lake. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and take some time to relax by the lakeshore. In the late afternoon, enjoy a short nature walk, where you may spot some of the island’s resident bird species while experiencing the peaceful ambiance of this island paradise.

Day 2
Full Day at the Island
Today is dedicated to exploring the beauty of Ssese Island at a leisurely pace. Start your morning with a relaxed birding walk along the shoreline, listening to the melodic calls of sunbirds and weaver birds. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace—swim in the lake, take a boat ride to nearby islets, or simply soak in the island’s serenity. In the evening, enjoy a lakeside sunset while watching African fish eagles soar above the waters.

Day 3
Birding at Ssese Island
This is the highlight of your trip, a full day of birdwatching with an experienced guide. You will explore the island’s forests and wetlands, searching for unique bird species such as the Great Blue Turaco, African Grey Parrot, Palm-nut Vulture, and the elusive White-spotted Flufftail. The island’s diverse ecosystems provide an excellent habitat for both resident and migratory birds, making it a birdwatcher’s haven. After a rewarding day of birding, return to the lodge for a relaxing evening by the lake.

Day 4
Return to Kampala
After breakfast, take a final walk along the beach, capturing any last glimpses of the island’s birdlife. Board the ferry back to Entebbe, where you will be met for your transfer to Kampala, marking the end of your island birding adventure.
