Starting in Uganda, you’ll explore the country’s rich biodiversity, from chimpanzee trekking in Kibale to the majestic gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Next, you’ll travel to Kenya, beginning with a city tour in Nairobi, followed by the incredible Masai Mara game drives, where you may witness the Great Migration if you're visiting at the right time. You’ll also have a chance to visit a Maasai village to learn about their unique culture.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Uganda and Transfer to Entebbe

Your adventure begins as you land at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be welcomed by a professional guide who will assist with your transfer to a reserved hotel in Entebbe. Depending on your arrival time, you can choose to relax and recover from your flight or embark on an optional excursion.

If you arrive early, you may visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, a lush and tranquil spot home to a variety of bird species and colobus monkeys. Another option is the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, where you can get an introduction to Uganda’s diverse wildlife, including rescued lions, elephants, and chimpanzees. As the evening sets in, settle into your accommodation, enjoy a delicious Ugandan dinner, and receive a briefing about the exciting journey ahead. Rest well, as the expedition begins in full force the following day with a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 2

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Transfer to Murchison Falls

 

The day begins with an early breakfast before setting off on a scenic drive towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can track wild rhinos on foot. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, you will walk through the savannah in search of these magnificent creatures, learning about their conservation efforts and behaviour.

After an unforgettable rhino tracking experience, continue the journey north towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most diverse wildlife reserve. En route, enjoy views of rural villages, rolling hills, and local markets.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and have lunch before heading out to the top of Murchison Falls. Here, you will witness the powerful Nile River squeezing through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters into the depths below, creating a spectacular display of mist and thunderous roars. Take in the breathtaking views and capture incredible photos before returning to your lodge for a relaxing evening. Dinner will be served as you enjoy the sounds of the wild, preparing for the next day’s exciting game drive and boat safari in the heart of Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3

Game Drive and Boat Safari in Murchison Falls

Rise early for a thrilling morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, exploring the vast savannah in search of Africa’s iconic wildlife. With the first light of dawn, predators such as lions and leopards are most active, offering a great chance to witness a hunt. Your guide will take you through the park’s best game-viewing tracks, where you can spot elephants, giraffes, buffalos, hyenas, antelopes, and an incredible variety of bird species.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some relaxation before heading out for the afternoon adventure—a boat safari on the Nile River. The boat cruise takes you upstream towards the base of Murchison Falls, where you will witness one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. Along the way, expect to see hippos, crocodiles, and elephants cooling off by the riverbanks, as well as countless bird species, including the rare shoebill stork.

The experience concludes with breathtaking views of the falls as the river crashes down the rocks. You may choose to hike to the top of the falls for an even more spectacular perspective, or return to the lodge for a relaxing evening by the campfire, sharing stories of the day’s wildlife encounters. Dinner will be served at your lodge, as you prepare for the next day's transfer to Kibale National Park, home to Uganda’s famous chimpanzees.

Day 4

Transfer to Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Murchison Falls National Park and begin the scenic journey southward towards Kibale National Park, known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” The drive takes approximately 6-7 hours, passing through the lush countryside, small villages, rolling tea plantations, and breathtaking landscapes of western Uganda.

A lunch stop will be made in Fort Portal, a charming town at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, known for its cool climate and scenic beauty. Depending on time, you may take a brief tour of Fort Portal’s landmarks, such as the Tooro Kingdom Palace or the vibrant local markets.

Arriving in Kibale National Park in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge nestled in the forest, where you can relax and soak in the sounds of nature. This pristine rainforest is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in East Africa. Enjoy dinner at your lodge as your guide briefs you on the next day’s chimpanzee trekking experience, an adventure that will bring you face-to-face with our closest relatives in the wild. Day 5

Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

Wake up to the sounds of the forest and fuel up with an early breakfast before heading to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a safety briefing and orientation on chimpanzee trekking. Led by experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you’ll venture into the heart of Kibale Forest, one of Africa’s best destinations for tracking wild chimpanzees. The trek takes you through lush tropical rainforest teeming with life birds, butterflies, monkeys, and medicinal plants as you search for a habituated chimpanzee family. Once found, you’ll spend a magical hour observing these intelligent, playful primates in their natural habitat. Watch as they groom, swing through the trees, communicate, and care for their young an unforgettable and deeply moving wildlife encounter.

After lunch and a bit of rest, head out in the afternoon for a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in biodiversity. This swamp walk offers excellent birdwatching opportunities, with species like the great blue turaco, and chances to spot monkeys, bush pigs, and sitatungas. Your local guide will also share insights into traditional uses of native plants and the conservation efforts supported by ecotourism.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation. Reflect on the day’s remarkable primate encounters and prepare for the next leg of the expedition as you head towards Semuliki National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 6

Transfer to Semuliki National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, set off on a drive towards Semuliki National Park, one of Uganda’s most unique and less-explored parks, known for its incredible biodiversity and hot springs. The journey takes you through the scenic Albertine Rift Valley, offering breathtaking views of the Rwenzori Mountains and lush green landscapes. Upon arrival, visit the Sempaya Hot Springs, a natural wonder where boiling water erupts from the earth at nearly 100°C. You can even boil an egg in the steaming waters a fascinating experience. As you explore the hot springs, keep an eye out for the De Brazza’s monkey, red-tailed monkeys, and forest elephants that inhabit the area. Semuliki is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to rare Central African bird species not found anywhere else in East Africa.

After the excursion, enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most famous safari destination. The drive offers stunning views of crater lakes, banana plantations, and rolling hills. Arriving in Queen Elizabeth in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge and take some time to unwind. As the sun sets, embark on an optional evening game drive in search of nocturnal wildlife, or simply relax at your lodge with dinner and spectacular views of the park’s vast savannah plains. Day 7

Game Drive and Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

The day starts early with a morning game drive through the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse wildlife reserves. With the golden sunrise casting a glow over the landscape, this is the best time to spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, hyenas, and various antelope species as they roam freely in their natural habitat. The drive takes you through Kasenyi Plains, a prime wildlife viewing area, and the Ishasha sector, home to the famous tree-climbing lions, an extraordinary sight found in only a few places in Africa. After an exciting morning, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some relaxation before heading out for the afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This boat cruise is one of the best wildlife experiences in Uganda, offering up-close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and buffalos along the shores. The Kazinga Channel is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, boasting an incredible array of bird species, including the African fish eagle, kingfishers, pelicans, and the rare shoebill stork.

The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours, passing through the stunning landscapes of the Rukiga Highlands and the Kigezi region, often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa" due to its lush, terraced hillsides and misty atmosphere. Along the way, enjoy picturesque views of mountainous terrain, scenic valleys, and dense forests, while occasionally stopping at local villages for a glimpse of rural life. Upon arrival in Bwindi, check in at your lodge, where you’ll be greeted by the peaceful surroundings of the park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich biodiversity.

Day 9

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today marks the highlight of your safari, the thrilling gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early breakfast, you’ll gather at the park headquarters for a briefing by the rangers, who will provide essential information on gorilla trekking rules and safety protocols. The trek to find the mountain gorillas can range from a short walk to a few hours through the dense, mist-covered forest, depending on where the gorilla family you’re visiting is located. As you walk through the thick vegetation, your guide will help you spot other wildlife, such as monkeys, birds, and butterflies, adding to the richness of the experience. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one hour observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Witnessing a family of gorillas especially the dominant silverback, playful young ones, and mothers up close is a life-changing experience. The gorillas’ behaviour, such as their interactions, grooming, and feeding, is both fascinating and heartwarming.

After the trek, return to the lodge to relax and enjoy a well-earned lunch. The afternoon is at leisure, allowing you to unwind and process the incredible experience. Day 10

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, begin your scenic transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, often called "the place of many little birds." This picturesque lake, surrounded by terraced hills, is one of Uganda’s most beautiful and serene destinations. The drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Lake Bunyonyi takes approximately 2-3 hours, offering stunning views of the lush landscape, tea plantations, and rolling hills of southwestern Uganda. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, check in at your lakeside lodge, where you’ll be surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the lake and its surrounding islands. Lake Bunyonyi is known for its deep waters and over 29 islands, each with its own unique character and history.

Exploring Lake Bunyonyi and Community Visit

After a relaxing breakfast with scenic views of the lake, the day is dedicated to further exploration of Lake Bunyonyi and the surrounding area. Known for its tranquil waters and stunning surroundings, Lake Bunyonyi offers a peaceful escape, ideal for a day of leisurely activities and cultural immersion. Start the day with a canoe trip across the lake. Glide over the calm waters while taking in the breathtaking scenery of lush islands, steep hills, and diverse birdlife. As you paddle, you may encounter local fishermen using traditional methods and have the chance to stop on one of the islands to explore further. This serene boat ride offers the perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the area.

In the afternoon, embark on a community visit to learn more about the indigenous people of the region. You’ll interact with local communities, especially those who depend on farming, fishing, and crafts for their livelihood. Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Walking Safari

After an early breakfast, depart from the serene surroundings of Lake Bunyonyi and begin your journey to Lake Mburo National Park, located approximately 5-6 hours away. The drive will take you through the heart of Uganda’s rural landscapes, with views of vast savannahs, rolling hills, and scattered homesteads. The route offers the chance to see the beautiful transition from the highlands to the more open plains of the park. Upon arrival at Lake Mburo National Park, check in at your lodge and take some time to relax. Lake Mburo is unique among Uganda’s national parks because of its more tranquil atmosphere, as well as its abundance of zebra, impala, eland, topi, and buffaloes, alongside numerous bird species. The park is also home to the only park in Uganda where you can go on a walking safari, offering a more intimate and thrilling experience with nature.

In the afternoon, head out for a walking safari led by experienced rangers. This is a special opportunity to explore the park on foot, guided by experts who will share knowledge about the ecosystem, animal tracks, and plant life. The walk will likely bring you close to wildlife like giraffes, zebra, and antelopes, offering a unique and exciting experience to witness animals in their natural habitat from a different perspective. Transfer back to Entebbe

After breakfast at your lodge, it’s time to begin your journey back to Entebbe. The drive from Lake Mburo National Park to Entebbe takes approximately 4-5 hours, offering a relaxing route as you reflect on the incredible experiences of your 15-day adventure through Uganda’s finest parks and landscapes. The route offers scenic views of the Ugandan countryside, with lush farmlands, local villages, and rolling hills along the way.

Upon arrival in Entebbe, check in the reserved lodge for an evening relaxation. You could opt to visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, also known as the Entebbe Zoo, which houses a variety of local animals, or take a peaceful stroll along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Flight to Kenya and Transfer to Masai Mara

After an early breakfast in Entebbe, you will take your flight from Entebbe International Airport to Nairobi, Kenya. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most famous and spectacular wildlife destinations. The drive to Masai Mara takes approximately 5-6 hours by road, offering picturesque views of the Great Rift Valley, dotted with small villages, and vast plains. En route, you may stop at scenic points for photo opportunities, particularly the Rift Valley lookout, where you can marvel at the expansive landscape. Day 15

Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Today is dedicated to a full-day game drive in the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, allowing you to explore this vast wilderness in depth. After an early breakfast, set off for a thrilling adventure across the reserve’s diverse landscapes, ranging from open savannahs to wooded areas and riverbanks. The Mara is famous for its high concentration of wildlife, including the Big Five, so you’ll have great opportunities for sightings of lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos. As you venture deeper into the reserve, your guide will help spot cheetahs hunting, giraffes grazing, and herds of zebras and wildebeests. Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Upon arrival at Serengeti National Park, you will check in to your lodge or tented camp. The park is known for its endless plains, which stretch as far as the eye can see, teeming with wildlife. Game Drive and Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater Safari

After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on an unforgettable safari into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most unique ecosystems on Earth. The crater, often referred to as the "Eden of Africa," is a vast collapsed volcano that forms a natural amphitheater, teeming with wildlife. Descending into the crater floor, you’ll find yourself in a lush, fertile landscape surrounded by towering walls.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to an incredible variety of animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, and black rhinos, one of the rarest of the Big Five. The crater’s rich mix of grasslands, swamps, and forests supports a diverse range of species. You’ll also have the chance to witness flocks of flamingos on the crater’s Lake Magadi and see large herds of wildebeests and zebras grazing peacefully on the plains.

After a brief introduction to the park, you’ll embark on a game drive, exploring its diverse ecosystems. The park is also home to giraffes, impalas, and a variety of primates, including baboons. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a different landscape and witness the park’s unique wildlife in action. After the game drive, head to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

Day 21

Transfer to Arusha and Departure

On your final day of the adventure, you’ll begin with a leisurely breakfast at your lodge before preparing for your journey to Arusha, the vibrant gateway to northern Tanzania’s safari circuit. After breakfast, you will embark on a 2-3hour drive from Lake Manyara to Arusha, passing through picturesque landscapes, including rural villages and scenic mountain views. This is a great time to reflect on your incredible safari experiences and enjoy the surrounding scenery as you head towards the city. Once in Arusha, you’ll have a bit of time to explore the city. Arusha is known for its cultural diversity, bustling markets, and as a hub for many adventure and safari tours. You might have the opportunity to visit local art galleries or pick up a few last-minute souvenirs to remember your trip.

Afterward, your guide will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your return flight. Depending on your departure time, you may have some free time to relax before your journey home. As you depart, you'll carry with you the unforgettable memories of a safari through the majestic landscapes of Tanzania, witnessing wildlife in its natural habitat, and experiencing the warmth of African culture.
